About Adobe PDFs
Adobe PDF is a small, secure file that enables documents to be downloaded onto your PC and retain their original hard copy format.
Downloading Free Adobe Acrobat Reader
You will need a free Adobe Acrobat Reader, which you can download from www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html.
On the Adobe website, make sure you choose the right platform in the drop-down box before you download – it should correspond to your operating system (eg Windows XP).
Make a note of where you have downloaded the installation file, then after the download has completed, locate it on your computer and double-click on it. The installation program will do the rest.
You are now able to read Adobe PDFs!
Troubleshooting PDFs
Q - I've clicked on the link but my browser's just gone blank?
A - Browsers have different ways of downloading PDFs. Most will show a progress
meter having asked you where you would like the file to download to on your
machine. However, some browsers (such as Explorer 5 with Acrobat 4) load
in the PDF page by page and don't show a progress meter. In fact it is downloading
– the first page should appear after a few minutes.
Q - I've downloaded the file but nothing has appeared?
A - You may need to go to where the file was downloaded on your local drive (probably your c:/windows/temp directory somewhere) and click on it from there. If it still doesn't work, your Reader is not working properly and should be reinstalled.
